Notts County are reportedly close to agreeing a loan deal for Cardiff City forward Michael Reindorf
Notts County are close to agreeing a loan deal with Cardiff City for Michael Reindorf.
That's according to the Sky Sports Transfer Centre (January 28, 10:04am), with the claim being made that the 19-year-old forward is expected to travel to Meadow Lane soon to finalise the transfer.
The Magpies sit sixth in the League Two table, following Saturday afternoon's 1-1 draw with Bromley, but they are just two points behind the automatic promotion spots ahead of Tuesday evening's full fourth tier fixture list, including County's clash with strugglers Carlisle United.
Reindorf was formerly a member of Norwich City's youth academy, but never made a senior appearance for the Canaries, prior to joining the Bluebirds last summer.
Since agreeing terms in South Wales, the forward has made four appearances across all competitions, with two arriving in the EFL Cup, and a further two in the Championship.
Reindorf is yet to score at senior level for the Bluebirds, although he did create an assist for his side during their entertaining 5-3 defeat to Premier League Southampton in the EFL Cup last August.
His only Championship outings arrived in November and December, when he appeared as a substitute during a 2-2 draw with Coventry City, and a 2-0 defeat to Preston North End.
A recent report from Wales Online revealed that the Magpies faced company from Scottish Premiership side Motherwell in the race to acquire the teenager's services, while Newport County and Bristol Rovers were also interested, according to Football Insider.
However, Stuart Maynard's men have won that transfer battle, as per Sky Sports, and will hope that the youngster will help them in their quest to win promotion to League One.
The Bluebirds, meanwhile, will hope that Reindorf's seemingly imminent move to League Two will help him find the confidence he needs to ply his trade for the South Wales outfit next term.
The news of the Magpies' agreement with the Bluebirds for Reindorf arrives at a time when current County hotshot Alassana Jatta has attracted plenty of attention during the January transfer window.
The Gambia international has notched a strong return of 12 goals and four assists in 21 League Two appearances this season, and has attracted transfer interest from Championship duo Plymouth Argyle and Portsmouth, as well as League One Bolton Wanderers, while the Pilgrims saw a bid for the 26-year-old's services rejected by the Meadow Lane outfit, as per The Guardian.
Magpies supporters will hope that their club's interest in Reindorf is because Maynard is looking to further bolster his frontline, and that they will also retain Jatta, as opposed to an attempt to replace their potentially departing joint top scorer.
