Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner following a troubled spell at the Emirates Stadium.

The 29-year-old only joined the Gunners last summer but ended up playing second fiddle to Aaron Ramsdale.

Despite being a regular for the United States national team, Turner only managed seven appearances for Arsenal last season, keeping four clean sheets.

With the Gunners on the verge of finalising a move for Brentford goalkeeper David RayaTurner has departed the Emirates in search of first-team minutes.

Joining Forest will allow the USMNT international to relaunch his career, having signed a four-year contract with the Tricky Trees, keeping him at City Ground until the summer of 2027.

Turner becomes the fourth summer signing to link up with Steve Cooper’s side during the transfer window, following the arrivals of Anthony Elanga and Ola Aina.

“It feels great to be here,” Turner said. “It’s something I’m really looking forward to. It’s a great challenge and a great step in my career.

“When I heard that there was interest to bring me here, it just felt right for my family. The manager and the backroom staff, everything about the club has a little sparkle to it.

“It’s felt right from the start, and I’m happy it’s got done. I’m looking forward to making a connection with my teammates, the fans and the city.”

Forest are still trying to re-sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson who spent the last season at City Ground.

The 26-year-old England international established himself as a key player for Cooper’s side, keeping six clean sheets in 18 Premier League appearances.

He then suffered a thigh injury that ended his season prematurely before returning to Old Trafford after his loan contract expired.

With the Red Devils signing Andre Onana, Henderson’s long-term future lies away from the Theatre of Dreams, and Forest are keen to re-sign him this summer.
