According to Pink Un, the Canaries will not accept any cut-rate price for the 32-year-old during this transfer window.

McLean has been with the Norfolk outfit since 2018 since his move from Aberdeen, and he has been a key figure at the club in recent seasons - not just in the engine room but in defence too.

The midfielder featured in all 46 games in the regular Championship campaign as David Wagner’s side finished sixth in the second tier standings.

The Scot contributed one goal and five assists, as the team narrowly missed out on promotion with a play-off semi-final loss to Leeds United.

It has been reported that Rangers are interested in signing McLean this summer, as they look to add more Scottish players to their squad.

The Scotland international was with Steve Clarke’s side at Euro 2024 in Germany, but the team was eliminated on Sunday evening with a dramatic 1-0 loss to Hungary.

McLean has previously revealed his desire to play for Rangers at some point in his career, having grown up as a boyhood Gers fan.

However, it is believed that it will have to take a substantial offer from the Premiership side to convince the Canaries to sell.

New manager Johannes Hoff Thorup is keen to keep the squad together ahead of pre-season, as he looks to cast his eyes over everyone’s usefulness to his first team plans for the upcoming Championship campaign.

McLean isn’t the only Norwich player attracting transfer interest this summer, but Hoff Thorup is hoping to give the players a clean slate and a chance to impress in their preparations for the new season.

The midfielder also has two years remaining on his current contract, as well as the option for a further 12 month extension, meaning the Canaries are in no immediate rush to cash in.

Adam Idah is also the subject of transfer speculation after his successful loan spell at Celtic, with Josh Sargent being linked with a move away from Carrow Road as well.

But Hoff Thorup will also be looking at potential additions to his squad, with improvements needed to bridge the gap to the teams competing for automatic promotion.

It is set to be a busy couple of months for Norwich, as they aim to fight for a top two spot next season.

And McLean could be an important part of that fight, unless Rangers stump up the cash for an offer the Championship side can’t refuse.

Kenny McLean is too important for Norwich City to lose for nothing

McLean has become an important part of the Norwich team over the years, and showed last season that he still has a lot to contribute at 32.

While he may want to play for Rangers at some point in his career, the contract he has with Norwich still has up to three years left to run.

So, the Canaries have every reason to want a substantial offer to be convinced to sell, even if he is now in his 30's and theoretically coming to the final years of his career.

It would be surprising if Rangers did push for a big-money move to sign the Scotland international given his age, but it’s not out of the question either with so much time still left in the transfer window.
