Luciano Spalletti has announced the list of players called up for the first two qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, but among the 27 Azzurri chosen to face Norway and Moldova there are no Roma players.

The Azzurri will debut in Group I on Friday 6 June in Oslo against Norway, before returning to the field on Monday 9 June in Reggio Emilia against Moldova.

Spalletti has divided the camp into two phases: the first group of 21 players will meet in Coverciano on Saturday 31 May, while the six involved in the Champions League final — Donnarumma, Acerbi, Barella, Bastoni, Dimarco and Frattesi — will join on Monday 2 June.

Among the new additions, the first call-up for Diego Coppola, defender of Hellas Verona, who has already been included in the Under 21 list for the European Championship in the category, stands out.

Davide Zappacosta, absent since November 2021, and Riccardo Orsolini, at his first call-up since June 2024, are back in the group.

Four players from Napoli, the recent champion of Italy (Meret, Buongiorno, Di Lorenzo, Raspadori), and two protagonists of Tottenham’s success in the Europa League (Vicario and Udogie) also complete the list.
