Christopher Nkunku is guaranteed to leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window after a frustrating spell with the club.
Nkunku has made just nine starts in the Premier League this season, failing to break into the plans of Enzo Maresca. His limited involvement comes after injuries decimated his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge in 2023/24.
The French forward has scored 14 goals in all competitions, though the bulk of his return has come in the Europa Conference League. He has netted just six times in 38 appearances the Premier League across the last two seasons.
Several sides have expressed interest in the 27-year-old, who cost Chelsea £52m when he arrived from RB Leipzig in 2023.
Chelsea are keen to recoup that fee for the France international, but Nkunku’s injury record could put off prospective suitors. Bayern Munich and Juventus are understood to be among his admirers, while Manchester United were tentatively linked in January.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Nkunku will definitely leave Chelsea in the summer window.
Nkunku impressed in the Bundesliga before his move to English football. He was named Germany’s Footballer of the Year in 2021/22 and was the joint-leading scorer in the Bundesliga the following campaign.
However, he’s been unable to dislodge either Cole Palmer or Nicolas Jackson for a regular role at Stamford Bridge.
