Next Liverpool manager odds: We have A NEW FAVOURITE and Mourinho LATEST

The odds to be the next Liverpool manager are in CHAOS right now after a wild 24 hours.

The story is changing it appears on a minute-by-minute basis as we inch gradually closer to finding out who will replace Jurgen Klopp after nine hugely successful years at Anfield.

Just over 24 hours ago it appeared that Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim was pretty much nailed on to be the number one choice for Michael Edwards and co. But not so fast.

On Monday Amorim flew to London - reportedly to meet with WEST HAM - and on Tuesday morning reports from Portugal suggested he will not coach either the Hammers OR the Reds later in 2024.

Throw in our exclusive about Liverpool's meeting with Lille coach Paulo Fonseca, and the noises from the Netherlands about Feyenoord coach Arne Slot, and it's a very fluid picture right now.

Oh, and we haven't even mentioned yet the re-emergence of a certain Jose Mourinho into the managerial merry-go-round. That appearance at Fulham on Sunday, and that exclusive interview with a national newspaper on Monday, were not by accident.

Mourinho odds cut as Amorim drifts

Amorim had been a rock-solid 1/5 favourite going into Monday, but all that changed in a huge way after those West Ham reports. And now, after a crazy day, we have a NEW market leader.

On the back of widespread reports that the Reds are now sweet on Feyenoord man Slot, he is now the Evens favourite with Amorim all the way out to 9/2 second best.

Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi is out to 7/1 from 4/1 earlier on Tuesday, while the gamble on Jose Mourinho is also faltering. 'The Special One' is now 10/1 from 8/1 on Tuesday morning.

A trio of contenders at 12/1 complete the leading pack - Wolves coach Gary O'Neil, Klopp's right-hand man Pep Lijnders and Brentford boss Thomas Frank. Fonseca meanwhile is 25/1.
