Celtic and Newcastle United are now scheduled to meet.

That is according to a media exclusive from The Mail.

They report that Newcastle United and Celtic are going to play each other in a pre-season friendly, ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The Mail say that the match is set to be played on Saturday 19 July 2025 in Glasgow.

On 18 July 2023, Newcastle United travelled to Rangers and won 2-1, NUFC’s last visit to Glasgow to play either of the Old Firm.

Celtic will kick off their competitive season not long after that reported friendly next summer, as the Scottish leagues start weeks earlier than in England.

That Rangers away friendly was at the start of Newcastle’s friendly schedule ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

Assuming this report of a Celtic v Newcastle United friendly are correct next summer, it would once agin be towards the early part of NUFC’s pre-season friendlies, as the 2025/26 Premier League season kicks off four weeks later on the weekend of Saturday 16 August 2025.
