When United finished fourth place in 2023 and qualified for the Champions League, various Newcastle United players were very quickly linked with moves away.

Bruno Guimaraes amongst those speculated, as he took the Premier League by storm after arriving from Lyon.

The media following on with the likes of Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and especially, Alexander Isak.

It comes with the territory that players performing at a high standard will draw heavy speculation and noises about their futures are made.

The latest in the transfer speculation spotlight is the understated Tino Livramento, who is the subject of claims of strong interest from Manchester City. Claims that Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the England international.

Tino Livramento has shown incredible consistency this past season for Newcastle United, high level performances and showing incredible versatility.

Playing both at right-back and his less familiar role at left-back, he looked just as comfortable in the latter position.

It was a massive blow when Lewis Hall sustained a significant injury in late February, but Tino Livramento superbly filled that left hand void. Tino started in that position in the Carabao Cup final where Mohamed Salah struggled to have any impact in the game, whilst the former Southampton defender excelled going forward as well, supplying the left wing cross that led to Alexander Isak’s trophy winning goal.

Continuing in that position he has developed solid partnerships with both Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon on the left, showcasing he has the ability to play with any personnel on either side of the pitch.

As a result of his performances in a black and white shirt, Tino Livramento has been included in the senior England squad, including making his England debut against the Republic of Ireland under interim boss Lee Carsley back in November.

England Manager Thomas Tuchel stated that he decided to send Tino Livramento to the Under 21 Euro Finals this summer to be one of the leaders of the group at a tournament finals, rather than include him in the senior squad for the Andorra and Senegal matches.

It looks to have been a very good decision as Tino Livramento has excelled in the opening two group matches this past week in Slovakia.

Eddie Howe is a huge fan of the 22 year old and appears to have no intention of allowing the player leaving Tyneside.

Any hopes that Manchester City might have had of a deal, appear to have been dashed, with widespread reports that United have no intention of selling and their valuation far beyond what Pep Guardiola’s club would be prepare to offer.

A real fan favourite, with hope and expectation that he will be playing in a black and white shirt for many years to come.

He may even become our favourite ever Tino if he carries on…
