Newcastle United contracts – Exceptional work done on NUFC stars

This is very impressive on Newcastle United contracts.

Something that has been largely ignored, in my opinion.

I had a look at what the current position is.

Down below is an update on how the club stands with the Newcastle United contracts, now just seven weeks ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season kicking off.

How the Newcastle United contracts situation currently looks – 28 June 2024:

End of June 2024:

Hall(**)

End of June 2025:

Dubravka, Trippier, Schar, Wilson, Burn, Fraser, Lascelles, Krafth, Gillespie

End of June 2026:

Targett, Pope, Almiron, Anderson, Longstaff, Ashby, Hayden

End of June 2027:

Botman, Jacob Murphy, Willock

End of June 2028:

Tonali, Gordon, Isak, Barnes, Livramento, Bruno, Miley, Joelinton, Alex Murphy(***), Yankuba Minteh(*)

End of June 2029:

Lloyd Kelly

As I said at the start, this has all been largely ignored. Both by the media and Newcastle United fans.

To get the Newcastle United contracts situation into such a healthy position, is outstanding work.

During this most recent (2023/24) season, both Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton were persuaded to sign big new contracts. I hesitate to say it, but… they are almost like new signings! That is, in terms of how much better a position it puts the club in with both of them.

They really were game changers, our boys from Brazil both now contracted until end of January 2028.

Without those new agreements, Newcastle United would now have Joelinton with just one year left on his contract and Bruno with just the two years.

Stop for a moment and just think how uncomfortably we would all be sitting now!

I find it hilarious how over the top some Newcastle United fans go, when this summer they hear the constant fantasy transfer tales made up by the media, supporters desperate to say how gutted they are about imminent sales of NUFC’s best players. Sales that are just not a reality.

All of Newcastle United’s key players have at least three years left on their contracts, in most cases it is four years.

At the other extreme, those higher-level NUFC players with just the one year remaining on their Newcastle United contracts are all in their 30s – Trippier, Schar, Wilson, Burn.

I’m sure the likes of Schar and Burn will be more than happy to sign up if Eddie Howe wants them to add another year to make it up to two years remaining. The same with Trippier and Wilson if they stay on, rather than head off this summer.

Those with currently two years remaining, I think Nick Pope will sooner rather than later have his deal extended. Whilst for Longstaff, Anderson, and Almiron, are all speculated as potentially leaving this summer but if they do stay, then certainly I can see the two Geordies getting a contract extension in the near future. Miggy Almiron is now in his 30s, so I’d guess the club is comfortable with his two years left on his contract if he stays on.

All in all, a massively healthy Newcastle United contracts position, something which has been worked on and credit to those who have made it happen.

(*Newcastle United announced it only as a ‘long-term’ contract for Yankuba Minteh when he signed in summer 2023, however, media claims that it was a five-year contract for the now 19-year-old)

(**Lewis Hall triggered a permanent move during the 2023/24 season, so just waiting on his official contract announcement)
