The nation is getting behind England at the Euros, but how much are UK consumers expected to spend on the Lionesses for the quarter final?
According to a new study conducted by VoucherCodes.co.uk, UK consumers could spend over £75million this week getting behind England.
Sarina Wiegman’s England team recovered from a disappointing start at Euro 2025 to qualify for the knockouts.
After defeat to France, the Lionesses trounced both Wales and the Netherlands by big margins to advance to a quarter final against Sweden.
The whole nation is behind the team heading into the quarter finals and after breaking records for viewing figures against Wales, the knockouts could attract even larger audiences and money from consumers.
England have now returned to being one of the tournament favourites following back to back wins in the group stage.
According to the UK’s best betting sites, the Lionesses are just 4/1 to win Euro 2025 and be crowned back to back winners of the championship.
The country is expected to come together on Thursday night to support England against Sweden and plenty of money could be spent by consumers.
According to VoucherCodes.co.uk, over £78million is expected to be spent by UK consumers in preparation for the game.
Over 5 million supporters will be flooding retail stores across the nation to get ready for the quarter final, with fans buying everything from food and drink to new kits to get behind the team.
£65.2million of the net spend is expected to come from the supermarket and convenience store sectors as the majority of fans plan to watch the game from home.
A further £4.5million is predicted to be spent on memorabilia, £3.4m on fan merchandise, £2.7m on electrical items, and £2.2m on decorations.
Senior Commercial Director at VoucherCodes.co.uk, Michael Brandy, said: “The retail industry, and in particular the grocery sector, can look forward to a week of healthy sales. As excitement grows, so does spending, with the amount consumers spend per game set to increase from £11.3m during the Group stage to £19.5m.
“The key to unlocking sales that last beyond the Women’s Euros is giving your customers great value and high-quality customer service. More than ever, customers want to know they’re getting the best price so by offering them deals and discounts during the games, (helping them come together with friends and family to cheer on the Lionesses) you’ll be building loyalty that lasts.”
