Over the past few months, I have been working on a Newcastle United stadium design, seeing as though it looks like we are going to get a new stadium.

With an official announcement looking imminent.

This is still a work in progress but I wanted to share this with The Mag and its readers.

I would appreciate you having a look at my design and I have stated below a bit about the project.

I’m proud to share a first look at my evolving concept design for a bold, forward-thinking new home for Newcastle United Football Club — a stadium rooted in the city’s rich heritage, set within nature, and designed to inspire the next generation of supporters.

Please note: this is an independent, personal design study and is not affiliated with any official plans or announcements from the club.

This concept relocates the stadium to Leazes Park, embedding the structure within one of Newcastle’s most historic and scenic green spaces.

A key visual captures the stadium reflected across the lake — positioning it as a landmark that belongs as much to the landscape as it does to the sport.

The design draws on a range of contextual influences:

Modern archways reinterpret the forms found in the Black Gate and Castle Keep, blending tradition with contemporary geometry.

The ETFE roof structure is inspired by magpie wings, capable of glowing in various colours and projecting dynamic visuals to engage fans outside the ground.

From the side, the entire Newcastle United stadium arcs gently — a subtle homage to the Tyne Bridge, creating a new architectural icon within the city skyline.

This is a concept that continues to evolve — considering every moment of the fan experience, from the approach through Leazes Park to the way the structure comes alive at night.

It’s envisioned as a cathedral of football, steeped in local identity but crafted for the future.

In the next stage of the project, I’ll be exploring how the current St James’ Park site could be reimagined as parkland, creating a symbolic and physical journey between the club’s past and its imagined future home.
