Ange-Yoan Bonny reveals ‘two simple things’ he was told by his new Inter teammates, Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram and explains why he picked the No.14 after a permanent move from Parma.
Bonny spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport less than a week before the official start of the Serie A campaign, which will see the Nerazzurri host Torino at San Siro on August 25.
Bonny joined Inter from Parma earlier this summer, reuniting with his ex-coach Chivu.

“My relationship with him hasn’t changed; he’s the same coach from Parma, just at a higher level, but with the same qualities,” said the French striker.
“He’s direct, demanding and honest. I’m really glad I crossed paths with him at the right moment in my career. I owe him so much; I’m here also thanks to him. Now I’m very motivated and I’ll try to earn my space because this is only the beginning.
“It’s been a period of adaptation, discovery and even struggle. It’s all truly beautiful,” Bonny continued.
“I arrived in a completely new world, but my teammates welcomed me as if I were their little brother. I should name them all because, together, they create an atmosphere that feels almost like a family.”
Bonny has picked the No.14 at San Siro.
“The No.13 was taken, so I shifted by one,” he said.
“13 has always been my number because literally my whole family was born on that day. Father, mother, brother and sister.”

Bonny will fight for a starting spot with Lautaro Martinez and Thuram, who have already given him some advice.
“I study them, I try to understand the details, the way they move, with and without the ball,” Bonny concluded.
“Right now, I’m far away, but I hope to get closer to their level one day. Both Lautaro and Thuram told me two simple things, like older brothers. First, ‘enjoy yourself’, second, ‘always look for the goal’ because we’re strikers and we’re judged also by the goals we score.”
Bonny netted six goals and provided four assists in 37 Serie A games with Parma last season, his first-ever campaign in Italy’s top flight. The 21-year-old striker has signed a contract until 2030 at San Siro.
Inter have also signed Petar Sucic and Luis Henrique, who already made their debut during the Club World Cup.
