The New England Revolution have officially started their roster rebuild with the addition of 27-year-old midfielder Jackson Yueill. The midfielder, who spent his entire pro career with the San Jose Earthquakes, comes to the club as a free agent on a deal running through 2027, with options extending to 2028-29.
The 2024 season drove one point home: the Revolution need changes. The team finished 14th in the Eastern Conference with just 31 points, missing out on the Audi MLS Cup playoffs. With his MLS experience, Yueill comes in as a player who can bring stability and, more importantly, contribute to the team's transition.
Since being selected 6th overall in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, Jackson Yueill has established a fine reputation in the league. The midfielder scored 13 goals and 19 assists in 210 regular-season appearances with the San Jose Earthquakes.
Yueill is not a flashy player, but the longevity in the league tells of a consistent and reliable professional. Spending eight seasons with the same club is indicative of his adaptability and commitment, two qualities that the Revolution is banking on.
Curt Onalfo, the Revolution's sporting director, focused on those strengths when announcing the signing: "As San Jose's longtime captain, his experience in MLS and leadership qualities speak for themselves." Onalfo's statement highlights the belief in Yueill as a player who understands the league and is capable of making an immediate impact.
Solutions are urgently needed in midfield, which was a sector that had plenty of struggle last season. With a shaky defense and an attack that couldn't find its rhythm, the central midfield became a glaring point of imbalance.
Yueill arrives as a dependable piece to help close that gap. His addition offers a trustworthy option to a roster in need of recalibration. Curt Onalfo and the Revolution coaching staff understand that the team's success in 2025 hinges on strategic adjustments, and the midfield is the logical place to start.
