New Arsenal signing Kepa Arrizabalaga says his competition with David Raya can help push the Gunners to new heights.

The goalkeeper has completed a £5m move from London rivals Chelsea and has penned a three-year deal with the club.

And speaking about his ambitions with his new club, the Spaniard said: “We’re here to win.

“I think we have a great team, great staff around, the best facilities, so we have to prepare ourselves for this season and to have success.

“When I talk with Mikel [Arteta] and Inaki [Cana], they show me their desire to win. They showed me this ambition, how much they want to improve, how much they want to grow and I’m really here to help, to push and to win more.

“I spoke yesterday with Kai (Havertz) and he was with Martin (Odegaard), they were together so we had a good chat together and they already explained a little bit how everything works, how good the atmosphere is right now in the changing room, so I can’t wait to join.

“I’ve come here as an opponent but the atmosphere in the stadium is beautiful. Obviously, it’s a big stadium, a top stadium, with big fans. From outside you can see how much they love the club, how much they support the club and this, for a player, it’s amazing to have this support behind you.”

Kepa remains the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, having joined Chelsea for £72 million back in 2018.

He spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, playing 35 times in all competitions, and is now set to provide competition for first choice Arsenal keeper Raya.

“He’s a great goalkeeper and we have a very good relationship,” Kepa said on his new team-mate.

“We share a national team and we will compete, we will train together, we will share a lot of time together.

“We will have competition as in all the positions in the team but the only goal is to win and to be the best.”
