Gary Neville has claimed the pressure shouldn’t be on Enzo Maresca following Chelsea’s defeat to Brighton in the Premier League.
The Blues slumped to a 3-0 defeat on Friday night thanks to a brilliant goal from Karou Mitoma and a brace from Yankuba Minteh.
Chelsea have now won just two of their last nine league games, but remain fourth although they will drop down the table if results go against them over the weekend.
It was another terrible performance from the Blues as they went down with a whimper on the south coast in an all to familiar showing.
Chelsea’s expensively assembled young squad was bereft of ideas and in truth it was a very straight forward evening for Brighton.
With the season unravelling quickly Maresca will be coming under more pressure, although he’s insisted the club have told him he doesn’t need to qualify for the Champions League this season.

The away end was virtually empty come full time with many fans fed up of what they were seeing, and the players had to be told by Willy Caballero to go and applaud the fans.
With the amount of money invested fans are expecting more than they are currently getting, and whilst the blame ultimately always lands at the manager’s door, Neville feels more scrutiny should be placed on those above.
“The pressure should be on the people who are recruiting the players, to leave out of a billion pound to leave positions like centre forward and goalkeeper is unforgivable,” he told Sky Sports as cited on X.com.
“The pressure should not be on the coach at all.”
