Napoli are pushing to sign Inter Milan striker Francesco Pio Esposito, currently on loan at Spezia in Serie B.
This according to today’s print edition of Naples-based newspaper Il Mattino, via FCInterNews.
Esposito has been on loan at Spezia this season. This is the second campaign in a row that he has spent on loan with the Ligurians.
Last time out, the Inter striker had gotten his first experience in senior football with the Serie B side.
And while it was a fairly positive season of growth as Esposito found his feet at a higher level than youth team football and integrated into the team, he was not exactly prolific.
This season has been different. Esposito has begun to score regularly as he has really hit the ground running back at Spezia.
The 19-year-old has been a key player as his team push for promotion to Serie A.
Inter and Esposito decided on sending the teenage striker back to a familiar environment in the second division this season rather than having him join a Serie A team on loan.
And this idea appears to be paying off in a big way.
The form Pio Esposito has been showing has certainly ramped up the transfer interest in the young striker.
Napoli want to snatch the 19-year-old away from Inter.
And according to Il Mattino, there are also clubs in the Premier League who are eyeing up Pio Esposito.
But the newspaper report that it was Napoli who are really pushing.
Naturally, it will not be easy to convince Inter to part ways with Pio Esposito.
The teenager’s potential means that Inter still see him as an important part of future plans.
However, Il Mattino report, there will be a meeting soon to discuss Pio Esposito.
And the Partenopei will do everything they can to push to sign the 19-year-old.
