Napoli in talks to sign Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta as Victor Osimhen replacement | OneFootball

Jean-Philippe Mateta (26) is in his best period of form since joining Crystal Palace from Mainz in 2021. This season, the Frenchman has 13 goals in the Premier League. It is his best return and his form has caught the eye of Napoli, according to a report from L’Équipe.

Speaking to the French publication, Mateta revealed that he will have a meeting with the coach and the hierarchy at Crystal Palace at the end of the season, adding “We will see (smiles),” when questioned about his future with the London club. L’Equipe understands that Mateta is garnering notable interest, adding that the most concrete talks are with Serie A side Napoli.

The Italian club, who have failed in their defence of their Serie A title, are looking for a replacement for Victor Osimhen, who is likely to depart at the end of the campaign. The Nigerian is reportedly closer to a move to the Premier League than a return to Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain.
