A new era looks to be underway at FC Nantes with the progressive, youth-oriented Luís Castro replacing the more conservative Antoine Kombouaré as manager. However, it’s an era that will be born in difficult circumstances, with the club beginning their season by hosting Paris Saint-Germain at the Stade de la Beaujoire.
A sign of the new times sees Castro hand out debuts to two academy products, with the 17-year-old Tylel Tati set to start in the centre of defence and the 22-year-old Yassine Benhattab given the nod on the right of the attack.
Matthis Abline has been heavily linked with an exit from Nantes this summer, but for now the club have held firm on their €40m valuation. Despite his uncertain future, the France youth international will likely be starting on the left of the front three.
