One Chelsea insider says that Chelsea are now likely to sign a new goalkeeper during the summer transfer window.

The big news comes after Chelsea finally secured their qualification to play Champions League football next season on the final day of the Premier League season yesterday.

The Blues had to win this game to secure it, and they managed a 1-0 away win against Nottingham Forest to provide scenes of celebrations amongst the Blues players and staff yesterday evening. And in by doing this, Chelsea also set a brand new record in football!

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca was so pleased with making the Champions League that he took the opportunity to swear at all of his critics across the season by telling them all to F off!!

Big plans for Chelsea

Chelsea are looking at some big plans for the summer transfer window that opens at the start of next month.

They want to sell some players as well as sign some more as well, with some more improvements in the squad.

A new striker is the priority, but it also turns out the club are seeking new goalkeepers as well.

Plans for a new stopper

Our own writer Simon Phillips has a big article out on new goalkeepers on his Substack site today, and there’s plenty of revealing bits of inside info there.

Phillips says:

‘Chelsea are looking increasingly likely to now look to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer window with the arrival of Champions League football incoming.

‘It is dependent on suitors coming in for current stoppers Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, and Djordje Petrovic. But SPTC sources are insistent that new stoppers are being looked at and are likely to be targeted as part of the big summer window plans.

‘The main name we keep hearing is Mike Maignan. We believe that feelers have been put out on this and Chelsea are appealed by the cut-price deal they should be able to get him for. Watch this space for sure…’
