Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia has responded to a fan asking him when he will be back playing again after his latest injury.
Lavia was expected back some weeks ago but there has been no sign of him yet in a match day squad, even though he has been back in training.
Chelsea have a game coming up this weekend in the FA Cup against Morecambe, and this could be the ideal opportunity to ease Lavia back in.
We are waiting to see if he will be included in this squad and whether he starts, but Lavia’s response to the fan does sound promising.
First of all though, some transfer updates…
Chelsea consider recalling defender Trevoh Chalobah from his season long loan deal with Crystal Palace to battle defensive injuries.
Another option they are exploring is re-signing former defender Marc Guehi, who is also at Palace, although they have had a first offer rejected apparently.
Back to Lavia, and as you can see from his response to the fan above, it actually sounds like he will be back this weekend.
The fan said:
‘Back anytime soon lad? Need you ASAP!’
Lavia responded:
‘Very very soon my friend.’
This sounds very promising as Lavia has missed a lot of football since joining Chelsea from Southampton. He missed almost all of last season and he has now missed a lot of this season.
The frustrating thing is that Chelsea just seem to tick better when he is on the pitch, he is well-suited to Enzo Maresca’s style of play and he is the one who helps control possession and everything comes out from the back and through him. He also has good defensive awareness, which is where Chelsea are struggling a lot at the moment.
