Monaco’s Breel Embolo addresses Bayern Munich rumours

Breel Embolo’s (27) second season at AS Monaco was severely disrupted when he sustained a serious ACL injury during training back in August. The Swiss striker was able to be eased back into the side in April where he made five appearances for Les Monégasques.

His inclusion in EURO 2024 had been under threat for much of the season, however, those difficult months have done little to slow Embolo down as he has recorded an impressive return to the national team helping Switzerland qualify for the Round of 16 where they will play Italy.

In Germany, where the forward played for FC Schalke and Borussia Mönchengladbach, rumours have begun to grow linking him with a move to Bayern Munich. Florian Plettenberg for Sky Sports Germany questioned the striker about this link, which he addressed stating “I hope you understand that I cannot say anything about it, out of respect for my club and out of respect for Bayern. It’s a big club of course… But I’m not thinking about it and I don’t want to comment on it.”

He continued, “The Bundesliga is an exciting league, I spent six great years there. My children were born there. I knew two big clubs: Schalke, of course, with its 60,000 stadium, and Mönchengladback, where I felt very comfortable and where I had better times.”

When pushed on whether he would be willing to return to Germany, Embolo replied, “You never know… If this becomes a question, it will have to be studied.” However, he added that he was “very happy in Monaco.”

Breel Embolo changes agents

Florian Plettenberg revealed yesterday that the striker has recently changed his representation and his new agents are assessing the market, with it being reported that he could be available for €15 to €20 million. However, Plettenberg has stated that Embolo could also remain in the Principality for one more season.
