Maghnes Akliouche (23) is the most bankable asset within Monaco’s squad and the one most heavily linked with a departure this summer.

The France youth international has been linked with clubs across Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain, Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester City, and Arsenal. However, for now, Akliouche remains a Monaco player. Speaking at a press conference, attended by Get French Football News, Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro addressed the player’s future.

Monaco need to sell to invest further

“We have our plan,” began Scuro, who has previously opened the door to a departure for the forward. “We can’t control what happens outside. It is normal that Maghnes Akliouche is on the lists of the top clubs. We have our conditions, though. When this is the game, we are here to protect ourselves. He can stay or they can go – that is relevant to all players,” he added.

Sales will be necessary for Monaco to continue to spend this summer. So far, Paul Pogba, Eric Dier, and Ansu Fati have all arrived. No transfer fee has yet been paid by the club. “We haven’t spent for the moment. Targeting elite players who could come without too much investment was an objective, but to invest more, we will also need to sell and generate more money,” said Scuro.
