Moises Caicedo has taken to social media and seemingly played downs fears of an ankle injury after Chelsea’s win against Fluminense on Tuesday.

The Blues advanced to the Club World Cup final after a 2-0 win against the Brazilians to set up a clash with either Paris Saint Germain or Real Madrid.

Joao Pedro scored two brilliant goals on his first start for the Blues, but there was concern at the end after Caicedo appeared to go over on his ankle.

Moises Caicedo plays down injury fears

Caicedo returned to the side after being suspended for the quarter final against Palmeiras and was once again brilliant in the middle of the park.

However, in the final moments of the match the Ecuadorian rolled his ankle, but carried on as Chelsea had used all five substitutes.

Chelsea and their supporters will rightly have been concerned, and Maresca confirmed after the game Caicedo had twisted his ankle.

The Blues will be sweating on Caicedo’s fitness ahead of Sunday’s final, but the 23-year-old has taken to Instagram to seemingly play down any injury fears.

He posted a series of photos from the game with the caption “Great team performance, see you on Sunday Blues.”

It certainly seems positive, and Chelsea really need Caicedo given Romeo Lavia has missed the last two games, whilst Dario Essugo missed the Fluminense game with a muscular issue.

Joao Pedro impresses on first start

Whilst fears over Caicedo’s fitness may have put a slight dampener on proceedings it shouldn’t overshadow what was a brilliant full debut for Pedro.

Pedro was given the nod by Maresca over Nicolas Jackson with Liam Delap suspended and repaid his manager’s faith with two superb goals.

The 23-year-old only joined the club from Brighton last week in a deal worth up to £60m, and has settled in quickly, making an immediate impact and endearing himself to the Chelsea supporters.
