Mohamed Salah has insisted he has still seen no progress in negotiations over a new contract with Liverpool as he began to reflect on his time at Anfield in the past tense.
Salah's current deal expires at the end of the season and, despite persistent public pressure from the Egyptian, no extension has been agreed, with Liverpool believed to have concerns about making a long-term financial commitment to player approaching his 33rd birthday.
In a recent interview with TNT Sports, Salah was asked whether he had any updates on his future, and he could do nothing but shake his head and smile.
"In a very polite way!" Salah said of his reaction.
Quizzed on the legacy he hopes to leave behind, Salah offered an emotional response as he admitted he hopes fans remember him as a player who gave everything to the team and the city.
"I want fans to remember that I gave it all to the fans, I gave it all to the city," he continued.
"I was here, I wasn't lazy, I just enjoyed my football and gave it all. I think that's what the city is about - they give you love and you have a connection with them because you give your all. I just want them to remember that I was here for eight years or whatever - and I gave it all.
"To be here for eight years is not something I take for granted. Playing at a top club like Liverpool, fighting for every trophy every year, is incredible. I feel like I’m in very good shape and trying to make sure that not only I improve but that the players around me are improving as well."
