Liverpool’s star man Mo Salah says he had a clear message for Arne Slot after his appointment as Liverpool boss – rest me defensively and I will provide the goals.
Salah’s stunning form has been a key factor in the Reds winning the Premier League title – which was confirmed with their 5-1 thrashing of Tottenham at Anfield.
The Egyptian winger is the Premier League’s top scorer with 28 and he is close to breaking the record for the most assists in one Premier League season too.
And the 32-year-old credited the Dutch coach for his incredible season.
When asked if he has improved him, Salah said: “You can see the numbers, it seems so.
“It is quite tough to say the difference between Slot and Klopp but the tactics are quite different. I told him look as long as you rest me defensively, I will provide offensively. If you give me that rest, I will show you numbers.
“It is quite tricky because when you play in the Premier League you have to defend against the left back but i told him when I get the ball I am always free and the number of the assists also show that.”
Liverpool’s last Premier League title came in 2019 when they ran rampant, winning it by 18 points, however the supporters were not able to celebrate the win with their fans because of the pandemic.
Jordan Henderson’s trophy lift in front of an empty Anfield is a far cry from the scenes seen after Liverpool’s 5-1 win against Tottenham, however.
And Salah says that winning the Premier League at Anfield in front of their supporters is a special feeling.
“It is an incredible feeling to win the Premier League at anfield with Liverpool and with the fans,” he said.
“This is way better than five years ago it is without Jurgen without everybody else but it feels more special with the fans.
“I dont want to take it away from anyone but we have a different group now, different manager so to do it again is something special.”
