As Millie Bright celebrates 10 years at Chelsea, she hopes the team can continue to win trophies and medals, in the same way they have done since she joined the club.
Bright has won seven WSL titles, four Women’s FA Cups, a Women’s Community Shield, and finished runner-up in the 2021 Women’s Champions League in a truly illustrious career.
And the defender is not done yet: “I want my legacy to be winning.
“I’ve always said that since day one and from lifting that first trophy. I want Chelsea to keep that winning DNA and monster mentality. I always joke about being a surprise signing. No one expected it and there were a lot of doubts.
“I want everyone to look at that and know that if you have the right mentality, and attitude and apply yourself properly, you can be successful in whatever environment you go into.”
Bright is, however, missing one trophy from her extensive cabinet: the Women’s Champions League.
“Everyone knows that’s the trophy that we’re after. We have been for so long and nothing changes in that mindset. That’s the ultimate goal.”
Chelsea have won all four of their Women’s Champions League games so far this season and top their group.
They face Twente next at Stamford Bridge, and Bright will be hoping the team can continue their impressive winning streak to 14 games in a row in all competitions.
In her 10 years with Chelsea, the centre-back has made 241 appearances and scored 15 goals.
Alongside her impressive trophy haul, she has also racked up some significant individual honours.
In July 2024, she was named the first-ever Freewoman of Derbyshire, to recognise her contributions to the England women’s football team.
She also received an OBE along with other members of the Lionesses squad after England won the Women’s Euros in 2022.
At the age of 31, Chelsea fans will be hoping Bright stays at the club for many more years to come.
Chelsea are currently five points clear at the top of the WSL table, meaning Bright could very well add an eighth WSL title to her list of honours.
Come the end of the season, Bright could be holding aloft the one trophy that’s alluded her to cap off a remarkable decade.
