In a very quick deal for their standards, Milan have come to terms with Chelsea to onboard Christopher Nkunku, who has already reached Italy for the medicals. They’ll shell out €38M plus add-ons, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

He moved to Chelsea for €65M two years ago after a great run with RB Leipzig but struggled to stay healthy and live up to expectations. He posted 18 goals and 5 assists in 62 games at Stamford Bridge. The versatile forward starred for PSG early in his career.

Milan turned to Nkunku after moving on from Conrad Harder because the player wasn’t convinced enough about the destination, primarily for the role he was going to have, and due to the fact that Sporting CP changed the conditions at the last moment.

The Rossoneri might not be done adding at the position. They are searching for a pure no.9 and are in talks with Roma for Artem Dovbyk. The clubs discussed a swap with Santiago Gimenez. However, the Mexican marksman doesn’t want to transfer. The Giallorossi could let their striker leave anyway, likely on loan, if they find a replacement in time. They are currently pursuing Brian Brobbey.

Our Take on Milan Signing Nkunku

Considering what has happened with Victor Boniface and Harder, nothing is definitive with them until the move is official. Still, it’s a massive investment for their standards for a player who, while talented and useful, doesn’t really fit what they were looking for and isn’t young. They either grabbed the best available and decided to sort out the tactical and technical elements later, or they are fine with having Santiago Gimenez as their main goal poacher now.
