Marseille target Celta Vigo & Spain defender Óscar Mingueza | OneFootball

According to a report from Matteo Moretto, Olympique de Marseille are interested in Celta Vigo defender Óscar Mingueza (26) – but Les Olympiens are hesitant to a release clause worth €20m. Talks are however continuing between the two parties to see if an agreement can be reached. Marseille are still in the market for a centre-back, after securing a move for England U21 international defender CJ Egan-Riley (22). Mingueza has made 34 appearances and provided six assists this season for Celta Vigo, having previously graduated from Barcelona’s La Masia academy and featured in 46 appearances for the Catalans. He has broken through to the Spanish national team, having made four appearances for La Roja this season, featuring most recently in the UEFA Nations League final after knocking out Les Bleus in the semi-final.Mingueza has the flexibility to play both full-back and centre-back, areas where OM were often caught short last season following injury and suspension issues. Les Olympiens will be looking to close in on their third signing of the Summer transfer window, after having agreed a deal in principle to sign England midfielder Angel Gomes (24) on a free transfer from Lille.
