Without a single senior appearance since his arrival, Simon Ngapandouetnbu (22) may soon be on his way out of Olympique de Marseille. The man who was selected to the Cameroon squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup has been with OM since 2019, but has only seen game time for the B team. On the international stage, he’s made just one appearance for his country’s U-23 squad, but has yet to feature for the Indominatable Lions.

L’Équipe reports that Marseille will soon terminate his contract, paving the way for him to move to a new French club as he’s been linked to Montpellier HSC, who were relegated to Ligue 2 last season.

The Cameroonian was recruited to come to Marseille in 2019 by Andoni Zubizarreta, a former longtime goalkeeper at FC Barcelona and Spain, who served as sporting director with Les Phocéens at the time.

After Montpellier failed to sign AS Monaco youngster Yann Lienard (22), Ngapandouetnbu may be seen as a viable option for a club that will seek a return to the top flight next season. Ngapandouetnbu was loaned to Nîmes Olympique in 2024-25, making 11 appearances for them in Championnat National.
