Mario Hermoso injury update ahead of Atlético Madrid’s showdown with Dortmund | OneFootball

An update on the wellbeing of Atlético Madrid star Mario Hermoso has come to the fore on Thursday.

The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, and points towards altogether positive news stemming from the Atléti training base.

Hermoso, for his part, picked up a thigh injury against Inter Milan earlier this month, forced to sit out his side’s final outing prior to the international break as a result.

The initial hope was that the Spaniard would return to fitness in time to feature for the Rojiblancos in the club’s upcoming Champions League quarter-final first-leg meeting with Borussia Dortmund.

And, if the latest word stemming from Madrid is anything to go by, efforts towards precisely that appear to be on track.

As per the aforementioned MD, Hermoso was put through an individualised training session on the grass on Thursday, alongside trainer Jose Ignacio Zahínos.

The 28-year-old participated in a range of drills, featuring sprints, ball work, and more.

Should his recovery continue along its current path, it is therefore assured that Hermoso ‘will be able to play in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals against Borussia Dortmund’.
