The Frenchman arrived in Milan from Borussia Mönchengladbach on a free transfer this summer, and his first two outings for the club had yielded just the one assist as he grew into his new surroundings.

But on Sunday night against Fiorentina he exploded, scoring his first goal for the club with a thunderous first half header to lift the roof off San Siro.

And the 26-year-old’s evening got even better when he assisted Lautaro Martínez for the first of two goals for the Argentine striker, before Thuram also won the penalty Hakan Çalhanoğlu dispatched.
