Manchester United left back target Alphonso Davies has spoken out on his future.

The Canadian’s current deal expires next summer, and talks with Bayern Munich over a new deal have stalled for now.

From United’s perspective, they are desperate for a left back. They have had to play for most of 14 months without a recognised player in that position, as Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have had to deal with their own massive injury problems.

Therefore, United has shown interest in signing their former player Alvaro Fernandez Carreras from SL Benfica, who has also been linked to Davies.

On Friday, it was reported that United had “stepped up” its efforts to recruit the captain of the Canadian national team.

In an interview with ESPN (via The Sun), Davies broke his silence on a potential future move away from Bavaria.

“As of now, my full focus is to stay healthy and to play the game with the club I’m with right now.”

Despite the obvious questions about where he would end up, he was keen to stress that he just wanted to focus on Bayern’s ambitions and that he felt very supported at the club he was currently at.

“I’m not focused on what’s going on in the future. I’m just focusing on staying healthy and helping my team win. My team make me feel valued.”

“The whole Bayern community make me feel valued. I see that each and every day.”

If he decides to leave Bayern, United will face tough competition for his signature, as Real Madrid have been heavily linked to the marauding full back in the past.

Should the Red Devils be able to land the 23 year old North American ahead of Madrid it would be quite a coup and would certainly radically change the dynamic of the Reds’ left hand side for the foreseeable future.
