Manchester United’s asking price for Alejandro Garnacho has dramatically dropped, as per reports in Italy.
Garnacho has been the subject of interest from Napoli, who have agreed to sell Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain.
The 20-year-old Argentine has had a complicated, for lack of a better word, 2024/25 season so far. He has eight goals and five assists across all competitions — a good return for any young winger.
However, the United academy product has received backlash for his attitude and was even dropped by Ruben Amorim ahead of the Manchester derby last month.
The ex-Sporting CP boss has indicated he has high hopes for Garnacho but at the same time underlined that he needs to improve.
Amid this, Napoli have shown interest in luring him away from Old Trafford.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Partenopei have made a move for the South American, as he is Antonio Conte’s preferred choice to replace the outgoing Kvaratskhelia.
The report stated that United want around £60 million (€71m) for their left-winger.
Now Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) have suggested the Premier League giants have dropped their asking price and their ‘aim to get €50m’ (£42m).
INEOS want to balance the club’s books amid financial fair play concerns and are accordingly understood to be open to listening to offers for all players, including Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho.
However, it is unlikely United would accept a fee in the region of €50m for Garnacho, who is regarded as one of the most exciting young wingers in Europe despite some flaws.
He is tied to the club until the summer of 2028 so there isn’t any apparent desperation to resolve his future either. Italian media appear to be getting ahead of themselves concerning United’s stance on Garnacho.
