Manchester United intend to kick-start Ruben Amorim’s era with the signing of Bayern Munich sensation Jamal Musiala, reports Fichajes.
United have officially confirmed the appointment of Amorim, who is set to take charge of the affairs at Carrington starting Monday, 11 November.
Considering how poor the Red Devils performed under former manager Erik ten Hag, who left the side 14th in the Premier League table, the Sporting Lisbon boss is likely to oversee an immediate improvement upon his arrival.
However, in order to implement his desired playing style, Amorim would need time and backing in the transfer market.
A report from Spain suggests United are willing to do just that by making a potential statement signing.
According to Fichajes, United are “in talks to sign” Musiala in a move that could “mark the start” of the Amorim era at Old Trafford.
The Germany international is one of the best wide playmakers in Europe, having established himself as a key figure in Bayern’s setup, owing to his silky feet and passing range.
However, his contract, due to expire in the summer of 2026, has raised plenty of questions concerning his long-term future in Munich. Should things remain unchanged, the summer of 2025 would be Bayern’s last opportunity to raise significant funds from his sale.
United reportedly “see the opportunity” to add Musiala to their ranks in the next summer transfer window — Amorim’s first major window at the club.
It is said that the 21-year-old’s addition “could bring a breath of fresh air” to the squad at United. Regardless of his contract situation, it is not going to be easy to secure his services amid “fierce” competition.
The report claims Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid are all interested in Musiala.
Having said that, it is certainly too early for the United board and Amorim to plan a move for a marquee name like Musiala, let alone begin talks. As such, it is best to take the claim with a pinch of salt.
