The senior team might have flattered to deceive heavily this season but ironically, they were the only Manchester United who didn’t impress.

The Women’s team won the FA Cup which overshadowed an under-par league campaign while the youngsters completed a historic treble.

Even for the senior team, the shining lights were the players promoted from the academy, be it the previous season or this one.

Therefore, the United academy has been the only cause for celebration at the club amidst a period of turbulence and bad results.

United’s commitment to strengthening their academy program has started paying dividends and if recent reports are to be believed, they don’t aim to stop.

The Daily Mail reports that United are aiming to recruit Scotland U15 international Camron Mpofu in time for their next academy season.

The forward, currently at Reading, is highly rated in the youth circles and has been tracked by a number of clubs for his exploits in youth football.

Mpofu’s family are relocating to the North-West to help the youngster with the move and United believe they have a “future star” on their hands.

The club has had a long history of illustrious Scottish talents who have graced the Old Trafford pitch and Denis Law stands at the top of it. With Mpofu’s nationality and position, he already has an idol to look up to!

United have been doing a great job of adding to the academy ranks in the past few years outside of promoting from within.

The likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Willy Kambwala were recruited from foreign clubs and while Brexit has made those moves impossible now, they continue to get young players from England.

The promise of a genuine path to the first team is undoubtedly a huge selling factor for these youngsters, while the United brand is stronger than ever despite on-field failures.

Fans would hope Mpofu becomes another in a long line of players whose arrival announcement went under the radar but he’s tearing up in the first team in a few years’ time.
