In a recent report, L’Equipe mentioned that Manchester United have moved in for Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Corentin Tolisso. It has been stated that the French talent is open to sealing a move to the Mancunian club in this transfer window.

Tolisso’s Impressive Form In Ligue 1 Last Season

Tolisso enjoyed a decent run of form at Lyon recently after he put in a run of impressive performances for them at the centre of the park. The French midfielder made 46 appearances for the French outfit last season, scoring ten goals and securing nine assists in multiple competitions.

The Tarare-born talent did well to make 57 tackles, 52 blocks and 22 interceptions in Ligue 1. He was even excellent when distributing possession from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 84.8% in the French first division (stats via fbref.com).

Tolisso is under contract at the French club until the summer of 2027. Hence, it won’t be easy for Man United to snap him up on a cut-price deal this off-season.

Should Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Get Tolisso On Board?

Tolisso loves a tackle and can sense the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a good passer from midfield.

The Tarare-born talent can even chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from midfield. He mainly operates as a box-to-box midfielder but can also play in the number ten position or as a defensive midfielder if required.

We can expect Tolisso to add more quality and depth to Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s midfield department. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club next season.

At 30, Tolisso is still playing in his prime and would serve as a good, short-term signing for the Red Devils to consider this summer. However, he might need some time to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting a player of Tolisso’s quality. Thus, it makes sense for Man United to go all out to get him on board ahead of the new campaign.
