Veteran pair could move into coaching roles at Man United
Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans are expected to bring an end to their Manchester United careers this summer.
The pair are both out of contract at the end of the season and new deals are unlikely, according to Fabrizio Romano, as Ruben Amorim looks to the future in a planned rebuild of the squad.
Previous reports have suggested Heaton and Evans are set to retire and could even move into coaching roles at Carrington.
Heaton came through the academy before rejoining United in 2021, making his senior debut for the club later that year against Young Boys.
The 39-year-old has not made an appearance in the past two seasons, but was called up to join England as a training goalkeeper for last summer’s Euros in Germany.
Heaton was on the bench against Newcastle on Sunday after Andre Onana was dropped, the first time he had made a Premier League squad since November.
Evans has had a more significant role to play in what is also his second spell as a United player.
The Northern Irishman made 198 appearances for the club before leaving in 2015 to join West Brom, and then returned to Old Trafford in 2023 after he was released by Leicester.
Evans has featured 12 times this season, but the last of those appearances came against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup in December and he has been out with an injury since then.
The 37-year-old announced his retirement from international duty last summer and the curtain could soon come down on his club career as well.
