Finding the perfect fit on the right wing proved quite the challenge for Erik ten Hag last season as the manager fell out with one star while his own recruit let him down big time.

Jadon Sancho was called out for his below-par training displays with the forward reacting on social media in the worst way possible leading to a loan exit in January. Now, he is close to being sold.

As for Antony, off-field issues plagued the Brazilian in the first half of the campaign and since his return, he hardly managed to put a foot right as question marks kept getting raised as to why the manager sanctioned a €95 million deal for him in the first place.

Hence, when INEOS came onboard, they earmarked the right wing as a priority position that needed reinforcements and Michael Olise‘s name ended up being a constant feature in the transfer columns.

Olise to Bayern

The 22-year-old netted 10 times last season for Crystal Palace and almost single-handedly decimated the Red Devils the last time the two sides met in the league.

There was enormous interest in the Frenchman from within England but recent reports have suggested that Bayern Munich have won the race for his signature.

The Peoples Person had relayed that United had attempted to hijack the deal at the last-moment and those efforts are continuing as per Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg.

Bayern’s deal with the Eagles is yet to go through and small details are left to be agreed. Due to this, the medical has been postponed by a week. United are continuing their efforts to try and force a sensational U-turn from the player but it looks unlikely as of now.

United trying to hijack the deal

“Been told that the transfer of Michael Olise to FC Bayern is not in jeopardy at this stage!,” the reporter wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“Bayern want to finalize the deal as quickly as possible. Because many clubs are trying to hijack the transfer, including Manchester United. But Olise remains clear as he wants to sign a contract with Bayern until 2029!

“There are still small details to be clarified between the clubs. The medical was actually supposed to take place this week. Now it is planned for the coming week.”

Tight finances at the club mean a deal is unlikely to pan out. United have also been linked with a stunning swoop for Anthony Gordon, highlighting that INEOS are aware of the need to strengthen out wide. However, they might need to go after more realistic options.
