In a recent report, journalists Ben Jacobs and Matt Smith mentioned that Manchester United are set to rival Everton for Leicester City ace Wilfried Ndidi. It has been stated that the Red Devils are eyeing a move to bring the Nigerian midfielder to Old Trafford this summer.

Ndidi’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Ndidi produced a run of impressive displays for the Foxes at the centre of the park in the previous campaign. The 28-year-old made 30 appearances for Leicester last season, scoring one goal and grabbing five assists in all competitions.

The Lagos-born talent did well to make 85 tackles, 47 blocks and 31 interceptions in the Premier League. He was even tidy when distributing possession from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 80.3% in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).

Ndidi’s current contract at the King Power Stadium will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, it would be difficult for Man United to sign him on a cut-price deal this off-season.

Should Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Go For Ndidi?

Ndidi is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.

Ndidi is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if needed. We can expect the Nigerian talent to add more bite and steel to Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s midfield. He has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and won’t need any time to settle into life at the Mancunian club.

Ndidi has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at Old Trafford next season. He might even help the Red Devils compete for some major trophies in the coming years.

At 28, Ndidi is playing in his prime which makes him a decent choice for Man United to consider this summer. He could even help the Red Devils challenge across all fronts in the future. Thus, it makes sense for Amorim to go for a midfielder of Ndidi’s experience this summer.
