In a recent report, journalist Dean Jones mentioned that Manchester United are keeping tabs on Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume. It has been stated that the Red Devils are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the French midfield ace.

Agoume’s Impressive Form In La Liga

The 23-year-old enjoyed a solid campaign at the Andalusian club recently as he produced a run of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. Agoume made 37 appearances for Sevilla last season, scoring one goal and grabbing three assists in all competitions.

The French talent was a solid presence when defending inside his half after he made 70 tackles, 30 blocks and 41 interceptions in La Liga. He even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 81.5% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2028. Therefore, it won’t be easy for the Red Devils to lure him away to Old Trafford on the cheap in this transfer window.

Should Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Go For Agoume?

Agoume is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and is an accurate passer of the ball as well.

The French sensation is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if Man United decide to move in for him this summer.

Agoume would undoubtedly enhance the quality of Ruben Amorim’s midfield department. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at Old Trafford this season.

At 23, Agoume has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a decent option for the Red Devils to consider in this transfer period. With all things considered, Amorim would be wise to go for a midfielder of his skill set this summer as long as he can get him for a reasonable price.
