It seems that City are already on the front foot as they look set to move for AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders. But there are other positions that City need to address this summer. Right-back is one of those. Now, a new report has named Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento as Manchester City’s top target to fill the void at right-back. But signing him could be a difficult task given his importance to Newcastle United.

Fabrizio Romano has reported via X that Tino Livramento is Manchester City’s top target to slot in at right-back. Furthermore, Romano reports that Kyle Walker will not return to Manchester City after his loan spell at AC Milan.

Signing Tino Livramento from Newcastle will be no easy task.

Tino Livramento is a fine player and he’s had a superb season for Newcastle. He’s been a key component in their successful season as Eddie Howe’s side won the Carabao Cup and could clinch Champions League qualification this weekend. Livramento has been a key figure in their success. As a player, he ticks almost every box required of a potential Manchester City signing. He is technically sound, can play at left or right-back, and is homegrown. Livramento is also young enough to further develop as a player. If you drew up a list of full-backs that could perfectly complement Pep Guardiola’s squad, Livramento would be near the top of the list. Ideally, Manchester City would sign Livramento and Flamengo right-back Wesley to bolster their squad. That would give them two new full-backs with varying skill sets. But there is one major hurdle for City to climb to sign Livramento.

Newcastle United would be reluctant to sell one of their most important players. If they were to sell Livramento they’d demand a sizable transfer fee to part ways with the versatile defender. That’s the major stumbling block in Manchester City’s interest in Tino Livramento. At this stage, it isn’t apparent if Livramento would move from Newcastle to Manchester City. Nor is it clear that Newcastle would sell him.
