Manchester City have unveiled a collaboration with a globally renowned hotelier to operate a brand new 401-bedroom site connected to the Etihad Stadium.
The addition of an on-site hotel comes as part of Manchester City’s ongoing and ever-ambitious improvement plans put into place in and around the Etihad Stadium arena, bringing top-level offerings to all of its year-round guests.
It was confirmed over a year ago that club bosses had sanctioned a spend of £300 million for the redevelopment of the Etihad Stadium, at a time when the local area is acclimatising to the addition of the state-of-the-art Co-Op Live arena and previous arena expansion.
It is widely understood that over 7,000 seats will be added into the Etihad Stadium’s North Stand, as well as a new hotel, club shop, museum, and covered fan park at that end of the ground.
And in a further update on progress being made both on and off the site at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City have both confirmed an operator for the hotel, a management company, and a new name for the addition to the site.
As confirmed by the club on Wednesday, Manchester City have announced a collaboration with Radisson Hotel Group for the Club’s 401-room hotel connected to the Etihad Stadium – due to open in late 2026.
It has also been revealed that the four-star hotel will be known as ‘The Medlock’, operating all year round and providing accommodation for music and sport fans attending the Etihad Stadium and Co-op Live, as well guests exploring the Etihad campus and Manchester itself.
The Medlock is said to be offering a choice of suites, deluxe and standard rooms, in addition to a luxury penthouse suite, while the site joins Radisson Blu and Radisson Hotel Group’s portfolio of 1,520 hotels in operation and under development.
Alongside the collaborative efforts with Radisson Hotel Group, Manchester City have also announced that The Medlock will be operated by industry-recognised hotel management company, Valor Hospitality.
Speaking as part of the announcement, City Football Group’s Chief Operating Officer, Roel de Vries said, “Today’s announcement is an exciting moment as we reveal the name of our hotel and welcome globally renowned hotelier, Radisson Hotel Group to the Etihad Campus.
“Radisson’s enthusiasm and passion for the Club’s hotel project is clear, and we firmly believe that Radisson’s industry experience together with the Club’s ambition and vision for the hotel is the perfect combination.
“We look forward to working with Radisson as we move towards the opening of the hotel and a year-round sports and entertainment destination that our fans and visitors from both the UK and around the world can enjoy.”
Offering their thoughts on the development, Radisson Hotel Group’s Executive Vice President and Global Chief Development Officer, Elie Younes said: “Our brands are always relevant to both our owners and our guests.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Manchester City Football Club and create a global flagship hotel within the world-class Etihad Campus in Manchester.
“This hotel is a fantastic addition to a growing portfolio of several stadium-based properties in the UK, like the renowned cricket ground, Edgbaston Stadium, the Allianz Stadium Twickenham, Home of England rugby, and worldwide in India and China.
“We are grateful for Manchester City’s trust in our brands, and confident that our long-standing cooperation will unlock further opportunities to all stakeholders.”
