Sources at Manchester City have remained ‘adamant’ over the club’s stance surrounding Savinho as Tottenham continue to eye the Brazilian winger.

Tottenham have made an approach to add the 21-year-old forward to their ranks ahead of the new campaign after the departure of Son Heung-Min to Los Angeles FC after captaining the north Londoners to UEFA Europa League glory last season.

Manchester City signed Omar Marmoush in January and have added Rayan Cherki to their attacking options this summer, with Jack Grealish joining Everton on a season-long loan on Tuesday in what is accepted by many as the end of the 29-year-old’s time at the Etihad Stadium.

City value Savinho north of £50 million and will not stand in the attacker’s way should he express a desire to leave and Tottenham table an acceptable offer, which could see the winger join Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker and Scott Carson in the list of first-team players to leave the club this summer.

Hugo Viana has orchestrated a significant revamp of Manchester City’s first-team squad after stepping in for long-serving Txiki Begiristain, spearheading the acquisitions of Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli, Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki, Sverre Nypan and James Trafford.

City have been linked with sensational moves for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo and Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in recent days as they prepare for their 2025-26 Premier League opener against Wolves on Saturday.

After signing Bettinelli and James Trafford already in the window, City have identified Donnarumma as an ideal signing should Ederson leave the Blues in what remains of the transfer window amid strong interest from Galatasaray.

Meanwhile, Guardiola is understood to be a huge fan of Rodrygo, who is being considered as a possible addition to Manchester City’s frontline should Savinho seek and secure an exit before the September 1 deadline.

According to a new report from ESPN’s Rob Dawson, Manchester City sources are ‘adamant’ they do not want to lose Savinho and will only bring in another attacker if the 21-year-old makes it clear to Guardiola and club bosses that he wants to leave.

Savinho impressed in his debut campaign at the Etihad Stadium after joining from CFG-owned club Troyes last summer, but there are more than a few gears to be stepped up in the attacker’s game as he matures and approaches his prime.

City were noticeably devoid of a genuine goalthreat in the absence of Erling Haaland last season, with the likes of Jeremy Doku also yet to unlock their true potential in front of goal despite his pace and dribbling ability.

The extent to which Savinho’s head has been turned by Tottenham – who appointed Thomas Frank as head coach after the sacking of Europa League winning manager Ange Postecoglou in the summer – remains to be seen and an exit would need an expression of intent from the Manchester City forward to move to north London.
