Following the arrival of English forward Marcus Rashford on a loan deal this summer, Barça are already working out other things. Once the English forward signed his contract at Barcelona, the club was finally in a position to turn their attention towards other operations as well.

Manchester City preparing an offer for Kounde

One of the most prevalent cases right now for the club to consider is the future of Jules Kounde. The French defender has been a pillar of this new Barcelona project ever since his arrival in 2022, but there is now reportedly an offer in the making that will be used to try to lure him away from the Catalan club.

According to Fichajes, Premier League side Manchester City are preparing a big offer to present to Barcelona in order to sign Jules Kounde. As per the report, the English side is preparing an offer worth around €80 million in order to convince the Catalan club to sell one of their key defenders.

From City’s perspective, Kounde offers a profile that combines versatility with experience, and other players on the market do not offer that same kind of profile. It is for exactly that reason that the team led by Pep Guardiola is reportedly trying to sign the 26-year-old French defender.

Barcelona not open to negotiating an exit

However, Barcelona have no plans of making things easy for them. After all, there are no other options on the market that could fill the void left by Kounde if he was actually sold, and the club reportedly has no intention of negotiating an exit for him this summer.

Yet, given their financial situation, the club cannot exactly completely gloss over it either. Instead, it is now up to Barcelona to decide if they want to prioritise their sporting project more or the financial gain that they would get from Kounde’s departure if an €80 million offer does arrive.

For now, reports suggest that the club’s priority remains to get the French defender to sign a renewal. His current deal expires in 2027, and Barcelona want to make sure that his future remains committed to the Catalan giants for the years to come.
