Manchester City have reportedly discussed a potential move for Spanish international Dani Olmo. But based on a new report it doesn’t appear that a move is imminent from the champions for the RB Leipzig star.

A report in the Athletic states that the champions have discussed the possibility of signing Dani Olmo. But the Athletic also reports that the discussions weren’t considered ‘urgent’. That may indicate that the champions have other areas they are focused on this summer.

Dani Olmo is a good player but he may not be the player Manchester City target this summer.

There is no doubting the quality of Dani Olmo. The Spanish international has shone for RB Leipzig during his spell at the club. He is arguably the Bundesliga side’s best player when he is fit. But there are question marks over his durability. Olmo does tend to be injury prone which keeps him off the pitch. He only made 25 appearances for RB Leipzig last season as injuries took a toll on the Spanish international. But when he is fit there is no doubt over his pedigree.

But as the Athletic’s report indicates it doesn’t appear that a move for Dani Olmo is imminent from Manchester City. That could suggest that there are other areas of Pep Guardiola’s squad that the champions are looking to strengthen this summer. Finding reliable support for Rodri would appear to be City’s main priority this summer. If that proves to be the case then any City move for Dani Olmo would be a distant second to what appears to be their majority priority. While Olmo appears suited to a role in Pep Guardiola’s squad the champions appear well stocked with options where Dani Olmo would play. Unless a key player leaves the club this summer there doesn’t appear to be a role in the City squad for Olmo.

There is no doubting the quality of Dani Olmo. But as it stands and as the Athletic’s report suggests it doesn’t appear that Manchester City are poised to make a move for the Spanish international. He may just be a player that City admire but don’t move for based on the available information.
