As we gear up for the new season, Barcelona appear to be betting big on Jules Kounde.

That is because the club have once again shied away from signing a new right-back this summer, hoping that the Frenchman will once again come to the fore.

Both the technical and the coaching staff believe Kounde can continue to operate as Barcelona’s first-choice right-back next season, with Hector Fort serving as backup.

As a matter of fact, Barcelona are in talks with Kounde over a new contract that will seal his long-term future at the club.

Manchester City and others eye move for Kounde

However, Barcelona may soon face competition in their bid to keep hold of Jules Kounde in the years to come.

That is because Manchester City and another club have made inquiries about the Frenchman’s availability in the market, reports Fabrice Hawkins.

A club like Man City will be able to offer Kounde a fortune in terms of salary. Not to mention, the Premier League giants have immense pull in the market, in light of their sheer dominance in English and European football in recent years.

Apart from Manchester City, another unnamed club is interested in signing Kounde.

Barcelona, though, are confident of convincing Kounde to sign a new contract, considering the fact that the former Sevilla star has made a home for himself in Catalonia.

Kounde has learnt to live being a right-back at Barcelona and is considered a key part of Hansi Flick’s defensive scheme.

Keeping these things in mind, it won’t be surprising to see the Frenchman opting to prolong his stay in Catalonia.
