Manchester City are ‘advancing fast’ in talks to sign Palmeiras centre-back Vitor Reis.

Pep Guardiola’s side are in negotiations with Palmeiras over a deal understood to be worth in the region of €40m (£33.5m). The 18-year-old is viewed as one of Brazil’s brightest prospects and forms part of an exciting generation of Palmeiras prospects.

Reis has seen former teammates Endrick and Luis Guilherme move on to Real Madrid and West Ham respectively, while fellow Palmeiras teenager Estêvão Willian will link up with Chelsea in the summer.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Manchester City have agreed personal terms with Reis and his agent ahead of a long-term deal. The Premier League champions are now keen to advance quickly in agreeing a final fee, to avoid competition from rival clubs.

Reis was named in the Troféu Mesa Redonda Team of the Year, awarded to the best players in The Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, in 2024 after a breakthrough year.

The 2006-born defender could be one of two highly-rated defensive prospects to arrive at the Etihad this month. City are also in negotiations with Lens over a deal to sign 20-year-old Abdukodir Khusanov from the French side.
