Man Utd team news vs Fulham

Ruben Amorim may be tempted to unleash Benjamin Sesko from the start after Man Utd fired a blank last weekend.

Man Utd picked up no new injuries during last week’s 0-1 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford. But Lisandro Martinez (knee) and Noussair Mazraoui (hamstring) remain sidelined.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana is fit and available for selection, while Sesko will be pushing to start after making his debut from the bench against the Gunners.

Mason Mount is likely to be the one who drops out, meaning Sesko could be flanked by summer signings Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha.

Sales needed if Man Utd are to strengthen again

Amorim has already added Sesko, Mbuemo, Cunha and Diego Leon to his squad this summer. But rumours suggest they are still on the hunt for a new goalkeeper.

The Red Devils are yet to receive a fee for an outgoing player this summer. Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen, and Jonny Evans all left the club on free transfers. Marcus Rashford also joined Barcelona on loan.

Man Utd have hinted that they cannot make any new signings unless they sell players. Neither Altay Bayindir nor Onana have covered themselves in glory since joining the club. Man Utd continue to be linked with a move for Gianluigi Donnarumma as a result.

Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens is another to have been linked with a move to Old Trafford. But Man Utd need to cash in on several assets first.

Man Utd bosses have already blocked any chance of Harry Maguire leaving the club, and the England international has said it would be “silly” to leave Old Trafford now.

Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Rasmus Hojlund have all been linked with the exit door this summer. But concrete bids have yet to materialise.

Man Utd fans will certainly breathe a sigh of relief if a new goalkeeper can make his way to Old Trafford before the transfer deadline day, especially after their performance against Arsenal.

Amorim’s team produced arguably their best performance under the Portuguese coach since his arrival against Mikel Arteta’s troops.

The Red Devils had the better chances, had more shots and registered more efforts on target.

While the table suggests there was little to smile about, Man Utd showed promise for the first time in a long time. If they can get rid of some of the dead wood and bring in a new goalkeeper, fans may be able to get excited about the season ahead.
