Manchester United would reportedly turn to AC Milan superstar Rafael Leao, especially if their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo goes astray.

The Premier League giants are currently in the process of revamping their attacking department. They are prepared to show several players the door, particularly Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho.

On the opposite direction, Matheus Cunha has already sealed a transfer from Wolves, while Mbeumo has been expected to follow suit.

And yet, MUFC have been unable to strike an agreement with Brentford on the package, even though been in talks for several weeks. The Red Devils even improved their bid, but they still fell short of The Bees’ valuation.

Therefore, Man Utd continue to monitor alternative tracks, and one of them could lead towards one of the most exciting players in Serie A, if not Europe.

According to CaughtOffside, Man Utd still consider Leao one of their priority objectives of the summer. The 26-year-old has been playing his football at Milan since 2019.

However, after a vastly disappointing campaign for the club, he might be tempted to walk away in search of a fresh new chapter.

The source adds that United are willing to put £60 million on the table for the attacker who has been described by the Portuguese press as ‘magic in motion’.

The report also reveals that Leao has several other suitors amongst Europe’s elite, but insists that Man Utd could be in a prime position, as Bayern Munich have cooled down their interest, while Barcelona are impeded by their financial troubles.

Whilst the report doesn’t link Leao’s signing to the Mbeumo soap opera, it is difficult to envision INEOS signing both players, as they must also address other positions, especially the No.9 role, the midfield and the goalkeeper.
