Heading into the ongoing summer transfer window, Manchester United were bracing for a busy few months, following an extremely poor 2024/25 season.
Several positions still urgently need strengthening, yet so far United have only confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
While the arrivals of Diego Leon and Enzo Kana-Biyik were also recently announced, Leon was actually secured back in January and Kana-Biyik will spend the 2025/26 season on loan at INEOS-owned FC Lausanne-Sport.
But, United must also step up their efforts to offload players in order to free up funds for new signings. As such, outgoings are just as important as incomings and a fresh update suggests that Altay Bayindir may be weighing up a move away.
Bayindir joined United in the summer of 2023, with manager Erik ten Hag signing him to deputise for number one Andre Onana.
In his first season at Old Trafford, Bayindir made just one appearance, which came against Newport County in the FA Cup while Onana was away with Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Last term saw Bayindir receive more minutes, making 10 appearances across all competitions. Yet despite Onana’s blunders and error-prone displays, the Turkey international failed to seize his opportunities and never truly impressed.
United are believed to be open to offloading Bayindir if suitable offers for him arrive. There have been claims that a return to Turkey is on the cards but this is not an option the player is currently considering.
A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Red Devils are considering signing a new goalkeeper after Onana suffered a hamstring injury that will likely ensure he misses the opening stages of the new season.
If this happens, Bayindir will almost certainly be pushed further down the pecking order.
Amidst all this, The Mirror reports that the player’s agent has held talks with United in an effort to gain clarity about his client’s future at the club.
According to The Mirror, “Altay Bayindir’s agent has been at Carrington this week to discuss his client’s Manchester United future.”
“Bayindir has not featured for the Turkey national team since a 3-0 defeat to Portugal at Euro 2024 and his representative Sefa Seyrek has been keen to understand the shot-stopper’s role for the forthcoming season.”
“The 27-year-old, who reported for pre-season training on Thursday, also snubbed multiple offers from Europe to stay with the Red Devils in January, however, there have been fresh enquiries about his situation in recent weeks.”
The Mirror notes that Botafogo shot-stopper John Victor is a player United are looking at.
